Because of its isolation, very few Kauai hotels are on the remote West Shore.
Waimea Plantation Cottages is a good choice for those who like peace and quiet. Spread across 27 acres, many of the cottages were once the homes of the laborers who worked the turn-of-the-century sugar plantation. Although they’ve been updated with modern conveniences, the cottages retain an old Hawaii feel you won’t find elsewhere.
The beach here is often muddy from the runoff of the Waimea River. But the on-sight Waimea Brewing Company is certainly handy.
