Princeville & North Shore Shopping

Yellowfish Trading Co. in Hanalei
There’s great shopping on the North Shore of Kauai, with something for everyone from the bargain hunter to the top-end treasure seeker.
Some of Kauai’s best shopping is in a three or four block area of Kilauea.
Originally opened in 1881 to provide goods to Chinese plantation workers, the Kong Lung Company in Kilauea is one of a kind. The current store dates from 1902 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Inside, you’ll find fine imported housewares, linens, clothes, art, and decorative objects from around the world. No tacky souvenirs here.
The adjoining center has several shops and galleries, as well as the Lighthouse Bistro and Kilauea Bakery/Pau Hana Pizza.
Across the parking lot from Kong Lung. Kilauea Town Market sells everything you need to put together a first-class picnic. There’s also a farmer’s market here on Thursdays at 11:30AM and Saturdays at 4:30PM.
With several funky venues to choose from, Hanalei shopping offers the most bang for your buck. The Hanalei Dolphin Center has a restaurant, a fish market, and shops selling clothing, jewelry, artwork, and gifts. Ching Young Village has more than two dozen businesses catering to tourists. If you want to rent a bike or arrange an excursion, you can do it here.
The Hanalei Center, also known as the Old Hanalei Schoolhouse, has a nice assortment of shops and restaurants. We especially like Yellowfish Trading Company which has vintage Hawaiiana and collectibles — from 1940s aloha shirts to old Pan Am posters.
Princeville shopping mostly consists of expensive boutiques near the St. Regis Princeville.
