Princeville & North Shore Hotels

The St. Regis Princeville underwent a one-year, $100 million renovation before reopening in October 2009.  The location on Hanalei Bay is one of the best on the island, and the views of Bali Hai from the public areas, restaurants, and more expensive rooms are unforgettable.  It’s now one of the most luxurious and expensive Kauai hotels.

The newish (2008), cliff-top Westin Princeville Ocean Resort Villas are the nicest Kauai vacation rentals on the North Shore.  Gourmet kitchens, private lanais, several spas, lots of activities, and a kids’ club make the Westin appealing to families.  These are some of the nicest Kauai condos anywhere on the island.

Hanalei Colony Resort is a small (48-unit), low-key place with no TVs or telephones in the rooms.  If you’re looking for peace, quiet, and battery recharging, this is the place.   Right on Kepuhi Beach and steps from the Hanalei Day Spa, the resort also has one of the better restaurants in the area, Mediterranean Gourmet.  And it’s less expensive than the other Princeville resorts.
